Rea and Associates, Inc. is a medical billing and financial services firm
located in Memphis, Tennessee. The company was founded by David K. Rea
in November in 1989. During the past fourteen years of operations, the
company has assisted more than 1000 physicians, hospitals and medical
groups in solving a wide array of complex billing, managerial, strategic
planning, and reimbursement problems.

Rea & Associates has provided billing services to medical practices
in the Memphis area for over twelve years. Our clients represent physician
practices of all sizes, including some of the largest specialty practices
in the community. The majority of the our clients have been speciality
physician groups, such as, cardiology, neurosurgery, urology, infectious
disease, general surgery, oncology, and orthopaedic surgery. Each medical
billing client is entitled to a full range of comprehensive financial
and management services as part of their basic support service from REA,
such as, medical fee analysis, medical chart audits, compensation planning,
etc.
The firm's president, David K. Rea, has 30 years experience in medical
practice billing and collections. He served as the Administrator for a
large 30 member speciality group practice for eleven years prior to establishing
Rea & Associates in 1990. He holds graduate degrees in Education (computer
research) and Health Services Administration. His undergraduate degree
is in Management and Economics.
The Vice President of Data Management is Richard K. Thomas, Ph.D. Dr.
Thomas. Richard has over 30 years experience in healthcare operations
and data management. He holds a Doctorate in Medical Sociology from Vanderbilt
University and has served as a consultant to dozens of hospitals, physician
practices, clinics, health plans and other healthcare organizations.
Ann Phillips, Vice President of Operations, has 44 years of medical billing/collections
experience with 34 years of experience as the Business Office Manager
for Semmes-Murphey Neurological Clinic. In that capacity, she was responsible
for all inpatient and outpatient billing practices and collections for
this national Center of Neurological Excellence.
The Medical Audit Specialist, Trudy Brown, has 28 years experience in
billing/collections and medical auditing, primarily with Baptist Memorial
Health Systems.
Who
are our typical clients?
While the majority of our clients have been physician practices, Rea &
Associates staff also have had clients in the form of hospitals, urgent
care centers, outpatient surgery centers, and other healthcare providers.

How
extensive is your medical management and billing experience?
The core Rea & Associates staff has over 100 combined years of medical
billing experience, involving all aspects of coding, billing, collection,
and reporting activities. The staff has experience that extends beyond
simple billing and collections, with extensive experience in medical practice
management; planning and implementing billing and collection systems;
designing and developing data management systems including electronic
medical record and computerized patient record system; developing and
implementing computer networks; and designing and producing client-oriented
reports.
Technical capabilities also include the development of Internet-based
data distribution capabilities. In addition to existing staff, Rea &
Associates has the ability to bring additional experienced staff online
as required.
What
type of Billing Software does REA use?
The billing software to be utilized is ProMed, a division of VitalWorks.
The ProMed software package to be utilized for billing is a UNIX-based
medical practice accounts receivable system that is currently in place
in over 1,000 medical practices throughout the United States.
